These broken solder joints, in turn, cause the Xbox 360 to start flashing a trouble code: the red ring of doom.

What you’re doing when you wrap a towel around your Xbox 360 is super-heating the console in order to re-melt the cracked or broken solder joints on the motherboard.

The ironic thing is that this usually works in the short run, so you can play your Xbox 360. But don’t be fooled, the long-term effects are detrimental and can destroy your Xbox 360 over time.

Just think about it, your Xbox 360 is actually getting hot enough to melt metal inside. Not only will it melt broken solder joint,s but it can melt good parts that aren’t damaged and cause them to become damaged, rendering your Xbox 360 broken.

Are There Other Ways to Fix Xbox 360 3 Red Lights?
