Cortex Strikes

Thea brain is the control center of the central nervous system, responsible for behavior. In mammals, the brain is located in the head, protected by the skull and close to the primary sensory apparatus of vision, hearing, equilibrioception, the sense of taste and smell. The outer layer of the brain, reasoning, planning and self-aware region known as the cerebral cortex, a clearinghouse of activity below the crown of the head which is largely linked to more regions specialize in a large network similar to a subway map, the scientists have reported.
The new report, published in the free-access online journal PLoS Biology, provides the most comprehensive draft to date the cortex ™ € s electrical architecture, the cluster of interconnected nodes and hubs that help guide thinking and behavior.
The paper also provides a striking demonstration of how new imaging techniques focused on Braina ™ € s of white substance â € "the connections between cells, rather than the neurons themselves â €" fill in a dimension of functioning human brain that was pretty dark.
In previous studies, scientists have used magnetic resonance imaging to identify the peaks and valleys of neural activity when people do different things, like making decisions, reacting to frightening images or painful memories.
But these studies, while provocative, revealed virtually nothing about the neural networks underlying involved ⠀ "on the brain regions talk to each other and when. Previous estimates of network structure, based on imaging such as were fragmentary. The new results, although not conclusive, give scientists what is essentially a wiring diagram that they can test and to refine.
€  OETH is the coolest paper IA € ™ ve seen in a long time, and forward looking in terms where science is going, â € said Dr. Marcus E. Raichle, professor of neurology and radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, who did not participate in research. He added, â € œTheyâ € ™ ve found in the brain, which resembles a map pin the air transportation system for € States.â United
A Dr. Sporns said continued research should help produce a complete diagram and detailed wiring of neurons, what he calls â € € œconnectomeâ of the brain. â € œWe hope that we can reach an where we have, in effect, a brain simulator, in the same way we have computer models that simulate climate, â € he said, Â € OESO we can simulate activation patterns we see in clinical cases, â € as psychiatric problems and brain damage.

Crash Bandicoot 2 - Cortex Strikes Back
$9.99 Let me go on record and say that I was never a fan of the original Crash Bandico Even though Crash was disarmingly cute and fuzzy, and even though the game's graphics were just about as good as they got in those days, the frustrating design of the game made playing it such a painful experience that I still have flashbacks when I see small marsupials on the Discovery Channel. But just one short yea... |
